Janie & Rob return to 333!
Janie Meneely is a beloved local singer/songwriter, with a long history in Annapolis as a performer, concert producer, and journalist. She was 333's host from 2005-2011. Her partner, Rob van Sante, is a Dutch-British guitarist and singer with years of experience in the UK folk scene. They have been playing as a duo for a couple of years now (they appeared at 333 back in 2016), and recorded one CD. Their show combines Janie's repertoire of originals, centered on the life of the Chesapeake and its people, with Rob's deep well of British folk music and lovely, crisp guitar playing. They sing beautifully together. We'll be singing along!
This concert also included the awards ceremony for the 2019 Benjamin Peace Writing Contest, a statewide essay contest for middle schoolers which often produces some thought-provoking work. (The 2019 topic was on threats to First Amendment rights in contemporary America.)
