Erin is a woman of diverse talents, and hard to pigeonhole. Her approach melds currents of pop, folk and protest music with a challenging mix of influences gleaned from exploring the modern musical landscape - jazz, hip-hop, punk and electronica. Her electric guitar playing is brash, clever and compelling. (She also plays piano.) Her singing voice is wide in range and combines a cool sheen with the flexibility to deliver every detail of a lyric. Her songwriting is inventive and a little cerebral. She always seems to find an unusual approach to her subject; perhaps because of this, she can tackle political themes with subtlety. Erin has played all the big folk festivals (and some pretty big non-folk ones), appeared on NPR several times, and did the Conan O'Brien show. Her songs have been used in a number of television shows and commercials. In addition to her career as a singer/songwriter, Erin is an independent composer and producer, a writer and an activist. In addition to that musical mentioned above, she has produced other artists' records, hosted and blogged for radio station WNYC, and worked with organizations such as Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society and the Future of Music Coalition. In the past few years she has spent less time touring and more on this wide range of other projects. So we feel lucky to be able to present her now.
